A brake band hold-down for a mechanical dock leveler includes a frictional brake that grabs the hold-down when the ramp is at the proper elevation. If additional upward force (this can happen when trailers move up and down when trucks are loaded or unloaded) is applied to the ramp, the frictional brake will give way just enough to accommodate the change. This prevents the dock leveler ramp from being damaged. This brake band hold-down is for Serco mechanical dock levelers. Brake band hold-downs should be replaced when they are worn to prevent dock leveler ramp damage. Note: a ratchet bar is not included with this part.
