Unlike mechanical dock levelers, which use springs to move the dock leveler up and down, hydraulic dock levelers use gas shocks to position the dock leveler. When gas shocks are failing, the dock leveler will bounce or sway, making the dock leveler unsteady and unstable. When gas shocks fail, the dock leveler will not move at all. This gas shock is for DLM hydraulic dock levelers. It is a replacement part for failing or failed gas shocks that are either making the dock leveler unsafe or are prohibiting it from moving at all.
